One of the UK’s most respected and trusted road marking and surfacing companies, Central Linemarkings, have recently added to their fleet with a brand new Somerford made road marking truck. In the business for over 40 years, Central Linemarkings have delivered projects to clients all over the UK involving airfields, red routes, anti-skid, car parks, cats’ eyes and many more.
Since April 2019, the Ultra-Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) has come into force in central London. This means drivers of older, more polluting vehicles are being charged to enter the congestion zone area at any time. Transport for London (TfL) hopes the move will reduce the number of polluting cars in the capital and estimates about 40,000 vehicles will be affected every day. With central London a key area for Central Linemarkings, steps would need to be taken to comply with the new regulations, enter Somerford Equipment.
“Having the latest Euro 6 engine means we can now complete more work in the ULEZ zone in London which is very important for our business.” Stated Andrew Bevins, Director at Central Line Markings, “Now we have seen the quality and workmanship that goes into these trucks we are now looking at purchasing another next year. We were told that the vehicle would only take ten weeks from start to finish. Even with checks that included a visit to the factory to see if we were happy with everything and if any changes were needed the vehicle was still completed on time. We have been very impressed with the whole service from start to finish. This vehicle has replaced an older Somerford lorry which has never let us down.”
he road marking truck is the latest DAF LF 55 complete with extended cab, Euro 6 low emission 260 Bhp engine, Engine driven PTO, Automated gearbox. Chassis and build as a complete package supplied by Somerford to include both truck driver and equipment training at point of delivery.
